The first Kent Independent Trader Awards took place in September 2012 and saw roughly 100 people attend the event held in Maidstone. What was so memorable was that it brought people from the corners of the county together and as a result many new business collaborations were formed.
Now is the time to expand on this and show just how much talent there is in Kent. Nominations are open and tickets for the event are already being snapped up. The 2013 event will take place at Bar 10, The Royal Star Arcade, Maidstone, which is a fitting location as it is full of independent retail outlets. There are 11 categories and one category winner will be awarded the ‘Entrepreneur of the Year Award’ which was won by Julie Anderson from RAP Contractors.
The speaker at the awards is Bev James, who as well as being a successful business owner in her own right is also the author of The Times Best Seller ‘Do it! Or Ditch it‘. Bev set up the Entrepreneur’s Business Academy with James Caan and also sits on the board for the government initiative ‘Start up Loans’.
All entrants from 2012 and 2013 in the Start-Up Category, or where the Business is under two years old will be invited to be part of a six month mentoring and coaching programme to further accelerate their success. This has been made possible thanks to the generosity of experienced business owners/mentors and coaches who are offering their time and their expertise to further develop business owners in the county. More information on this will be posted shortly.
