2015 Category Information

Retail Business of the Year

The retail business can be online or offline but must be independently owned and not part of a franchise. The business must also be located in Kent and have been trading since at least 1st August 2014

Start-Up Business of the Year

The business must have been trading for no more than 18 months at 1st August 2015 to qualify for entry

Home Based Business of the Year

The business must be based out of a home address, although the business activities can take place anywhere

Creative Digital/Design Award

This category reflects the talent there is in Kent for creative digital design. From graphic to web designers. The business must be based in Kent but activities can take place anywhere

Creative – Non Digital

This category is for all creative businesses in Kent that do not fall under the umbrella of digital or design

Trade Business of the Year

All trade based businesses qualify for this award, from plumbers to car mechanics, from window cleaners to electricians…

Recruitment Business of the Year

This category is open to all independent recruitment agencies in Kent

Marketing/PR Business of the Year

Companies must be independently owned and based in Kent

Contribution to the Community Award

This award will reflect an individual or company who strive to improve their local community. It does not have to be a registered charity

Growth Award

Companies should be able to demonstrate their growth success over the past 12 months (to August 2015) and show signs of being able to sustain and increase this growth moving forward in to 2016

Customer Service Award

Striving for excellence within the customer service environment. Companies or an individual must be able to demonstrate how they work toward excellence and monitor their progress and results

Professional Achievement Award

A company or individual must be able to demonstrate how they have achieved excellence within the professional environment. This may be through progressive development or public recognition

Rural Business of the Year

The business must be based in Kent

Employer of the Year

What makes a company or an individual great to work for. Clear staff planning for professional development should be demonstrated

Independent Cafe of the Year

The Cafe should be based in Kent and not part of a chain

Independent Bar/Pub of the Year

The bar or pub should be located in Kent and not be owned by a brewery. It can be part of a chain if it is a private, independently owned company

Independent Restaurant of the Year

The restaurant should be located in Kent and not be owned by a brewery. It can be part of a chain if it is a privately owned, independent company

Independent Venue of the Year

The venue must be located in Kent and not be part of a national chain. The venue must offer services to the public such as weddings, event or corporate hospitality
